Everyone ready for the Dr Who 50th anniversary episode tomorrow? I'm at the point where I just hope it lives up to all these fan tributes going around (like the rather stunning video above).

And to keep this book related: I got Shada for my last birthday, and it's really good. Took me straight back to being an 8 year old, peeping at Tom Baker from around the sofa, ready to jump back behind if it got too scary. And to the intricacies of reading a Douglas Adams book for the first time (although, it's written by someone else, it's based on the infamous Shada script he wrote twice over, and his notes about it.)

Also: Neil Gaiman's 50th anniversary book comes out today I think.

If you like Audio Books, and you like Dr Who, you can NOT go wrong with the Big FInish Audio plays - which are full fledged radio play performances rather than books, often using spectacularly good casts. The poor 8th doctor, played by the most delicious Paul McGann, so sorely shortchanged by the faffing around with the franchise trying to reboot it the time before last, has had a mass of adventures all his own, and Sylvester McCoy, Peter Davison and both Tom and Colin Baker also voice their respective doctor in some of them, as well as a bunch of familiar companions. It's kind of like they never left TV (they aren't cheap, but they are so, so well done. If I was rich, I would buy like, all of these.)

(Oh, and they do other shows too, not just Dr Who. BLAKES SEVEN AUDIO PLAYS OMG I DIDN'T KNOW THEY DID THAT ASDFKLA!!GH!!)
